Just like its predecessor, God of War Ragnarök also has a ton of small side quests that not only unlock rewards but also help towards completing the game’s achievements. Such a minor yet important side quest is “The Eyes of Odin” quest. It is recurring side quest from God of War 2018 and this favor requires you to slay all of Odin’s Ravens in order to set them free from Odin’s clutches. In total there are 48 ravens located all throughout the nine realms. Most often you will come across them while completing the main questline or other side quests. They are often hidden in plain sight but can easily be found due to their distinct color and the unique sound they produce. Here’s a guide on where to find them all.
Odin’s Ravens’ Locations
As mentioned above Odin’s ravens can be found all throughout the six realms, so here’s a brief rundown of the locations.
1. Midgard
- Even though it is the smallest playable realm in God of War Ragnarök, it is still effectively packed with Odin’s ravens. In total there are six of these ravens who can mostly be found around the Lake of Nine.
2. Alfheim
- This realm can be broken down into two sections. The first section can be accessed from the start itself, but the section ‘the Forbidden Sands’ can only be accessed after completing the Song of sands side quest. In the first section of Alfheim, you will be able to find 10 ravens while the Forbidden Sands area will give you access to four ravens.
3. Savartalfheim
- The realm of dwarves is a new addition to the God of War series. This realm can also be broken into two halves. During your first visit to Savartalfheim you will be able to access nine ravens the rest will only be accessible to you during your second visit after forging the Draupnir Spear.
4. Vanaheim
- Another one of the largest realms in God of War Ragnarök that comes packed with Odin’s ravens. However, this realm is also split into two areas, the second area ‘the crater’ can only be accessed on your second visit after completing certain favors. You will be able to find six Odin’s ravens on your first visit to Vanaheim and after gaining access to the Crater, you will able to find another seven ravens.
5. Helheim
- In the realm of Helheim you will only be find two ravens and they are quite close to the mystic gateway itself. This is because Helheim is the smallest playable realm in God of War Ragnarök.
6. Muspelheim
- Muspelheim is another small region that you get to visit in a main story quest. However, it is only fully explorable later into the game where you can complete all the collectible side quests including the Ravens in this region.
7. Niflheim
- Niflheim is the home of the raven tree and so you will not be able to find any Odin’s ravens here. Use this realm to access your rewards after completing this favor.
The Eyes of Odin Rewards
Near the base of the Raven tree at Niflheim, you will find six chests that unlock with the amount of Ravens that have been destroyed. Starting from the left, the first chest will
unlock at 6 ravens, the next at 12 ravens, 18 ravens, 28 ravens, 38 ravens and finally 48 ravens.
Opening the first 3 chests will grant you the Raven tears armor set. These come with different perks such as increased healing and low chances of luck, however, this set
will only help you in the early to mid-game and will start to fall off by the late game when the enemies become considerably stronger. The final three chests will grant you three unique heavy runic attacks for each weapon: Breath of Thamur for the Leviathan Axe, Meteoric Slam for the Chaos Blades and The Finger of Ruin for the Draupnir Spear.
When all six chests have been opened a rather strong revenant called the Raven Keeper will appear, she is Odin’s loyal acolyte who is also responsible for creating the ravens. Killing the Raven Keeper will also grant you rewards such as an amulet enchantment called Niflheim’s Justice which can be used with the Amulet of Yggdrasil.
